There seems to be some confusion as how to get AmigaDOS to read PC Disks,
as this isn't the only post I have seen on this subject. It's simple,
really. Amiga OS 2.04 and above comes with CrossDOS. To read PC Disks,
go into SYS:Storage/DOSDrivers and double click the PC0: icon. Now insert
a PCDisk into DF0: (the first internal floppy drive). Two icons will
pop-up. If it's an Amiga Disk, you will see it's name under 1 icon, and
the PC icon will say something like PC0:???
If you insert a PCDisk, the Amiga Disk icon will say DF0:??? and the PC
Disk Icon will read CrossDOS on the disk icon picture itself, and display
the PC Disk's name.
This works with either HD or DD Disks, with a HD Drive, and, of course,
only with DD Disks in a DD Drive.
To get this automatically everytime you boot-up, move the PC0: icon from
SYS:Storage/DOSDrivers to SYS:Devs/DOSDrivers.
Activate PC1: on DF1: the same way, if you want another PCDrive.
To Activate a PC2:, you'll need to copy one of the icons as PC2, and change
the tooltype to look for PC Disks in DF2: (from the icons/information menu
selection).
To read Mac disks, you hafta buy CrossMac, or use the Shareware program
ShapeShifter with the MacHandler. I recomend buying CrossMac, AND
Registering ShapeShifter, that way you can read Mac Disks with CrossDOS
whether or not ShapeShifter is running, and still use ShapeShifter to run
(emulate as fast as they run...) Mac programs.
